Summary
Join BlueLabs' Civic Tech practice and play an instrumental role in building robust data models, troubleshooting issues, and improving data quality for a government healthcare platform. You will create SQL-based data models using dbt, manage data pipelines with Argo Workflows, and perform quantitative and qualitative research on data sets. This role requires strong SQL, Python, and dbt skills, along with experience in workflow execution engines. Requirements
- 5+ years of applied experience working with structured/unstructured data
- An undergraduate degree or higher in a quantitative field or equivalent technical training
- Strong understanding of manipulating data using SQL, Python, and dbt
- Experience working with workflow execution engines, such as Airflow or Argo Workflows
- Experience optimizing data models for query efficiency
- Ability to deeply research business logic of ingested data and the business logic needed to build derivative data products; comfort with independent discovery
- Curiosity and a desire to understand coworkers' work upstream and downstream
- Interest in investigating problems, solving puzzles, and finding patterns in complex data, and proposing solutions
- Comfort working independently to drive portions of larger projects
- Experience working in an Agile environment, reviewing othersβ work, and a strong grasp of version control (git)
- Passion in applying skills to the social mission and collaborating in a cross-functional team environment
- Ability to successfully attain and maintain a Federal Public Trust security clearance (US Citizenship or residency for 3 of the past 5 years)
Responsibilities
- Create SQL-based data models in dbt, including refactoring legacy code and building new data transformations
- Develop and manage Argo Workflows and complex DAGs to define data pipelines
- Perform quantitative and qualitative research on data sets to understand sources, governance, and use cases
- Implement tests for data quality and integrity
- Serve as a data subject matter expert and assist teams in interpreting and using transformed data
- Be responsible for version control documentation for data assets
- Investigate data discrepancies to identify patterns and find solutions
- Optimize existing code and workflows for performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with the analytics team to build analytical processes and tools
- Act as a bridge between data engineers and data analysts
- Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, data scientists, program managers, and external stakeholders to troubleshoot problems and create solutions
- Take ownership of task areas and independently resolve challenges
- Provide input on the long-term vision for the platform
- Complete other reasonable tasks as assigned by management
