Join Vesta Primary Care, a division of Vesta Healthcare specializing in primary care for older adults with long-term home care needs. We're seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team, primarily working remotely with potential for hybrid roles. This role involves both bedside and back-office support, including patient communication, health screenings, chart preparation, appointment scheduling, and telemedicine facilitation. You'll be a critical member of our team, collaborating with primary care providers and caregivers to ensure high-quality, timely care. Requirements
- Be located in the Massachusetts area and able to commute ~2 days per week to Metro North Boston
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting
- Be able to work Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST
- Have knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
- Have a customer service mindset for both internal and external customers
- Possess Medical Assistant and/or Medical Scribe Certification
- Have the ability to travel within the designated service area and reliable transportation, including to locations with limited access to public transportation; valid driver's license and proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle is required
- Have a quiet place to work on remote days, where patient related conversation can happen in private and employees can focus on patient-related tasks
- Be up to date on appropriate vaccinations
- Have a strong proficiency in computer software navigation; data entry and data cleansing
- Have a fundamental knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, Slides or similar
- Have a demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, displaying good judgment and decision-making skills
- Have a flexible and adaptable nature, excited by change and a start-up environment
Responsibilities
- Provide back office patient support such as facilitating orders and referrals, engaging in patient related conversation at the direction of and under the supervision of a clinical practitioner, filling out home health forms and other patient-related needs
- Perform health screenings by phone or in person
- Prepare charts and perform scribe functions
- Maintain up-to-date medical records, ensuring communication is documented and flows through the electronic medical record
- Schedule patient appointments
- Virtually βroomβ patients, getting them accustomed and comfortable with a video visit
- Assist the Primary Care Provider in the field at Assisted Living facilities, as needed. Take vital signs and perform appropriate bedside clinical procedures, as necessary
- Collect chronic care management time, ensuring that patient care is documented and accounted for
- Provide coverage for βfront officeβ functions as necessary, such as answering phones and conducting other administrative tasks as necessary to support the team
- Provide practice support including: contacting members, caregivers, and care team members as directed, work closely with the clinical team to improve the health and care of our members
- Coordinate care for patients of the practice
- Perform precise data entry within the electronic medical record, as appropriate for scope of practice
- Ensure data quality and accuracy
- Answer phones with a smile and customer service orientation
- Schedule patient visits using mapping software
- Perform other administrative support
- Perform duties as assigned or requested
Preferred Qualifications
- Have knowledge and understanding of chronic care management processes
- Be fluent in English and Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese/Russian (writing, reading and speaking)
