Remote Operations Analysis and Services Engineer

Summary

Join the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) as a full-time Engineer in our Operations Analysis and Services group. The successful candidate will support the efficient administration of Energy Market Operations, Grid Operations, and Transmission Congestion Contract Market Operations through data evaluation and analysis. This individual will assess market and reliability data, develop metrics, and identify trends and root cause events that lead to market inefficiencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required
• A minimum of three years industry related and/or professional experience; preferably with a generator, utility, or peer ISO/RTO organization
• Experience performing statistical analysis, mining databases is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform daily assessment and periodic reporting of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) BAL Reliability Standards
• Perform monthly assessment and reporting of Eastern Interconnection frequency crosscheck, inadvertent payback, and synchronized reserve adjustments for NPCC (Northeast Power Coordinating Council) CO1 working group
• Provide support for DAM Congestion Rent Settlement (Attachment N) process
• Create and analyze various reports as they relate to the Operations and Performance Metrics
• Perform analysis of Lake Erie circulation or other unscheduled power flow statistics
• Provide analysis to assist Operations Management in the efficient administration of the Markets
• Update and maintain data used in transmission services areas such as power system models employed for Transmission Congestion Contract Auctions
