Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience of payroll accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes and how they impact P&L statements and balance sheets
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant, preferably using Rippling Payroll and Oracle NetSuite or similar systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities to address payroll accounting challenges effectively
  • Proficiency in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and other relevant financial tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and external parties in a professional manner
  • Extensive experience with general accounting principles and practices

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the payroll processing team to address any discrepancies or issues related to payroll reconciliation or journal entry and resolve them promptly
  • Review Quarterly payroll tax fillings for federal and states, work with representatives to resolve issues or notices
  • Accrue payroll, bonus and benefit expenses at month end
  • Review biweekly payroll journal entries integrated to the accounting system NetSuite, reconcile all payroll related GL accounts: Accruals, withholding, benefits, taxes, 401K and others
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly payroll expenses and explain the flux
  • Support SOX and statutory audits related to payroll
  • Maintain GL mapping between payroll and accounting systems
  • Reconciliation of cash accounts as they relate to payroll fees and refunds
  • Record adjusting journal entries as needed
  • Prepare flux analysis for payroll related accounts
  • Monitor accounts for unexpected or unusual changes and research for a timely resolution
  • Manage integration of data between payroll and accounting systems
  • Validation of data related to employee department and location for accrual and reporting accuracy
  • When necessary, calculate and process regular bi-weekly payroll including incentive compensation, SPIFFs and scheduled additional payments
  • Research and resolve any payroll discrepancies that come through
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard payroll data and mitigate risks of errors or non-compliance
  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including employee information, timesheets, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions
  • Stay informed of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with publicly traded companies is a plus
  • Strong experience with LTI and accounting practices associated with the various types of stock
