Summary
Join Wrapbook's growing team as a Payroll Operations Manager and lead a remote team of paymasters in delivering exceptional payroll services. You will oversee union remittances, address worker and production company inquiries, and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing. Leveraging your experience as a former paymaster, you will manage a wide range of payroll functions, including union remittances, audit responses, and 401k support. As an experienced manager, you will excel at setting your team up for success, establishing clear expectations, and providing necessary support and resources. You will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to enhance teamwork and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires a deep understanding of union contracts and the entertainment industry.
Requirements
- At least 5 years experience in payroll operations
- Union Experience required
- Experience people manager with at least 3 years of direct management experience
- Proactive, self-starter that will drive the teamβs day to day; optimize productivity
- Drives all management responsibilities including coaching, goal setting, performance management, hiring, terminations
- Demonstrated success escalating appropriately, providing recommendations, driving to resolution
- Demonstrated success in implementing processes and efficiencies that best service our customers
- Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and across all levels
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Experience executing remittances or processing payroll. If you have not performed these functions, you have managed a team responsible for remittances and processing payroll
Responsibilities
- Lead the Union Operations team, ensuring excellence in daily operations, with a focus on consistently achieving or exceeding core KPIs for union remittance and other key activities
- Manage a remote team of payroll specialists who utilize a ticketing system to address and fulfill customer payroll needs and expectations, fostering responsiveness and customer satisfaction
- Build and nurture a cohesive, high-performing payroll operations team where members feel valued, supported, and receive effective training to meet the highest standards
- Set and maintain clear expectations for quality, accuracy, and compliance, ensuring all team members meet or exceed these standards
- Conduct performance management conversations to drive growth and development within the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to enhance teamwork and foster a culture of continuous improvement, aligning efforts across teams for shared success
- Oversee all hiring, termination, promotion, and performance-related decisions for the team
- Partner closely with the product team to provide a prioritized list with details on what the team needs in order to work more efficiently, improve their day-to-day and support the anticipated growth
- Determines the appropriate org structure and resourcing needed to be successful
- Key decision maker for payroll operational matters
- Participate with other leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives to better organize and grow the organization
- Partner cross-functionally to drive initiatives that help the broader team win
- Provides recommendations for new processes, tools, roles and responsibilities to ensure the group is organized to optimize productivity
- Ensures team documentation is up to date and the entire team is cross-trained. Creates and executes on cross-training strategies
- Onboard new team members effectively so they are knowledgeable and confident to be impactful in a short period of time
- Working cross- functionally to ensure the team has the resources, tools and support necessary to be successful
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Canadian payroll processing preferred
