Requirements

  • Advanced experience in payroll processing, including calculating wages, salaries, bonuses, taxes, and deductions
  • Expert understanding of managing payroll cycles (semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly)
  • Strong proficiency in federal, state, and local payroll laws, including FLSA and tax regulations
  • Proficient experience maintaining and securely storing payroll records
  • Advanced skills in auditing payroll records and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with employees, HR, and management
  • Familiarity with handling benefit invoices and ensuring accurate reconciliation
  • Advanced skills with Excel/Google Sheets for payroll analysis and reporting
  • Experience with multiple HRIS and payroll software systems
  • Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately calculate and process employee wages, salaries, bonuses, and deductions in compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Maintain, update, and securely store payroll records, including employee information, timekeeping data, and pay rate changes
  • Ensure timely payment of payroll taxes and compliance with all tax regulations
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and complaints regarding pay and deductions
  • Audit employee benefit deductions and invoices, ensuring amounts are accurate and reconciled, and coordinate corrections as needed
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger and provide insights based on data analysis
  • Oversee contractor management by ensuring appropriate data is gathered and payments are processed in a timely manner. This includes managing the 1099 process to ensure compliance with tax regulations and accuracy in reporting
