Requirements
- Advanced experience in payroll processing, including calculating wages, salaries, bonuses, taxes, and deductions
- Expert understanding of managing payroll cycles (semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly)
- Strong proficiency in federal, state, and local payroll laws, including FLSA and tax regulations
- Proficient experience maintaining and securely storing payroll records
- Advanced skills in auditing payroll records and resolving payroll discrepancies
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with employees, HR, and management
- Familiarity with handling benefit invoices and ensuring accurate reconciliation
- Advanced skills with Excel/Google Sheets for payroll analysis and reporting
- Experience with multiple HRIS and payroll software systems
- Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
Responsibilities
- Accurately calculate and process employee wages, salaries, bonuses, and deductions in compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Maintain, update, and securely store payroll records, including employee information, timekeeping data, and pay rate changes
- Ensure timely payment of payroll taxes and compliance with all tax regulations
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and complaints regarding pay and deductions
- Audit employee benefit deductions and invoices, ensuring amounts are accurate and reconciled, and coordinate corrections as needed
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Ensure all payroll transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger and provide insights based on data analysis
- Oversee contractor management by ensuring appropriate data is gathered and payments are processed in a timely manner. This includes managing the 1099 process to ensure compliance with tax regulations and accuracy in reporting
