Summary
Join our team as a fully remote Payroll Specialist, based in Mexico or Central America! This role supports HR processes for the Americas, reporting to the Sr. Global Payroll Manager. You will implement payroll best practices, enhance processes, and serve as the first point of contact for payroll and benefit inquiries. Responsibilities include executing accurate payroll, administering benefits, ensuring policy compliance, and preparing reports. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of payroll, taxes, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Thorough knowledge of local employment-related laws and regulations. (USA knowledge preferred)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll taxes and government payroll regulations
- Knowledge of various deductions and tax treatments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database software
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Self-starter, proactive, highly motivated and a team player
- Fully fluent in English
Responsibilities
- Executing accurate and timely weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll schedules in the US, Canada, and LATAM
- Benefit administration to include enrollments, inquiry resolution, changes, and reconciliation of invoices for payments
- Ensure the time and attendance policy, and paid leave policy are applied properly for all employees
- Ensure payroll database reflects current and accurate information
- Calculate termination payments in compliance with federal and state laws; calculate adjustments, special pays, retroactive payments, and overpayment of wages
- Reconcile timecard adjustments
- Prepare reports and payments including, but not limited to ORP, TRS, ERS and other entities
- Ensure the timely production and distribution of W2s
- Process and audit tax and direct deposit information
- Recurring audit / reconciliation to ensure all payroll deductions and benefit enrollments are accurate
- Quarterly and Year End Audits (Benefits, Payroll, Workers Comp, 401k)
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits deductions in a timely and professional manner
- Partner with managers cross-functionally to streamline the approval of hours, improve payroll cycle time, and reduce errors
- Partner with Finance and HR to develop and maintain standard reports for various operational analyses and compliance requirements
- Evaluate, develop, recommend, and implement payroll policies, processes, and system enhancements designed to improve business processes within the department
- Establish internal controls to ensure the integrity of personnel and payroll data in all internal and external systems
