People Operations Intern

Convergent Research
Summary
Join Convergent Research, a non-profit science studio, as a part-time temporary employee to contribute to the improvement of their internal systems and workflows. This role involves collaborating with the People Operations team to build better tools, dashboards, and knowledge systems. You will be responsible for organizing HR documents, mapping benefits, creating data spreadsheets and dashboards, researching HR tools and vendors, co-developing GPTs for internal use, and systematizing people knowledge. The position offers flexibility with an estimated 10-15 hours per week for 10-12 weeks, starting in Summer 2025. The role is remote and based in the U.S., with compensation starting at $30/hour for intern-level candidates and higher rates considered for more experienced professionals.
Requirements
- Tech-savvy. You love all things AI. You’re comfortable using (or learning) tools like Notion, Slack, Lever, and Google Workspace, and you’re excited to tinker with GPTs or build internal guides using AI
- Organized and systems-oriented. You get satisfaction from labeling things properly, building workflows that work, and creating clarity from chaos
- Detail-focused. You catch what others miss and take pride in doing things right the first time
- Self-directed. You’re comfortable working largely independently and managing your time (with a support network and safety net!), especially in a remote environment
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and docs. You’re not scared of conditional formatting or pivot tables, even if you don’t live for them
- Curious about org design. You want to understand how hiring, compensation, feedback, and performance systems shape a team’s success
Responsibilities
- Tidy up our HR Drive. Reorganize and re-label key folders to improve navigation and enforce naming conventions across documents
- Map benefits across our ecosystem. Build a master spreadsheet of benefits across Convergent and all FROs for easier comparison and equity tracking
- Create useful dashboards and data spreadsheets. Generate reports on hiring trends, turnover, and other people data
- Research tools and vendors. Look into background check providers, LinkedIn Recruiter setups, and best practices for managing employee data
- Co-develop GPTs. Help refine internal GPTs for use in recruiting, onboarding, and performance—writing prompts, directions, and internal documentation
- Help systematize our people knowledge. Build templates, create manager playbooks, Notion pages, and doc libraries that scale with us
- Support ad hoc projects across the organization
Benefits
- Compensation: $30/hour for intern-level candidates, will consider higher hourly rates for more experienced professionals operating as independent contractors (5+ years of directly relevant experience)
- Location: Remote (U.S. Based)
