Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in project development focused on renewable or traditional transmission connected generators in Ontario, PJM, MISO or ISONE
- Based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area
- Experience with at least one energy project in Ontario
- Familiarity with the Ontario market dynamics and the IESO
- Experience supporting full lifecycle development of a renewable energy asset or energy storage project
- Participation in an organization which has developed an energy storage project
- Experience participating in the development of or completing all of the following agreement types: Site lease or purchase agreements
- Experience participating in the development of or completing all of the following agreement types: Site Plan and Building Permit approvals
- Experience participating in the development of or completing all of the following agreement types: Interconnection agreements
- Experience participating in the development of or completing all of the following agreement types: Power purchase or tolling agreements
- Experience participating in the development of or completing all of the following agreement types: MIPA / PSA for project disposition / acquisition
- Creative independent thinker; demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in both team and individual settings
- Must be flexible and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
- Travel required as necessary to support permitting activities, stakeholder meetings and other related tasks
Responsibilities
- Site acquisition and due diligence: work with the Real Estate team at Plus Power to acquire project sites following internal processes and bring them through the diligence process, or take over existing projects diligence them
- Project development: manage a project pipeline and execute on complex milestone deliverables across a network of stakeholders
- Project management: problem solving nuanced site, permit, and technology issues with internal experts and external stakeholders
- Project finance: understand the key financing elements of a project and work with the finance and commercial teams to ensure that all projects and deals continue to meet or exceed financial hurdles
- Contract origination: Work with markets and origination team to identify and quantify opportunities, supporting RFP submissions
- Commercial negotiation: support stakeholders in the negotiation power purchase agreements, permitting documents, interconnection or other IESO agreements to protect the commercial sensitivities of each deal from a development perspective. Supporting the financing of each new deal
- Deal execution: providing support in closing and financing each new deal
