Summary

Join Medical Care Development, Inc. (MCD) as a Purchasing and Logistics Associate! This mid-level, remote position (with occasional office visits to Silver Spring, MD) involves managing procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing, and coordinating logistics for project materials. You will support operational needs and efficient supply chain management, collaborating with finance and program teams. The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least two years of experience in procurement/logistics (NGO experience preferred), and strong skills in negotiation, communication, and Microsoft Office Suite. This role requires managing inventory, tracking purchases, ensuring compliance, and preparing reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in the NGO or non-profit sector
  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices and supply chain management
  • Advanced knowledge of all current Microsoft Office software programs and in particular Excel
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the procurement process for goods, services, and equipment in line with the organization's policies and donor requirements
  • Identify and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and high-quality products
  • Track and manage inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment of stock as needed
  • Coordinate the logistics for shipping, receiving, and distribution of supplies and materials to various project sites
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders and invoices
  • Maintain and update records of purchases, suppliers, contracts, and deliveries
  • Work closely with program teams to understand and anticipate purchasing and logistics needs
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and organizational policies
  • Assist in the preparation of procurement reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in procurement planning and budgeting exercises

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of donor procurement regulations (e.g., USAID, EU, etc.) is an advantage
  • Proven track record of successful teamwork using virtual collaboration
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese a plus
