Summary
Join Medical Care Development, Inc. (MCD) as a Purchasing and Logistics Associate! This mid-level, remote position (with occasional office visits to Silver Spring, MD) involves managing procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing, and coordinating logistics for project materials. You will support operational needs and efficient supply chain management, collaborating with finance and program teams. The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least two years of experience in procurement/logistics (NGO experience preferred), and strong skills in negotiation, communication, and Microsoft Office Suite. This role requires managing inventory, tracking purchases, ensuring compliance, and preparing reports.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in the NGO or non-profit sector
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices and supply chain management
- Advanced knowledge of all current Microsoft Office software programs and in particular Excel
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the procurement process for goods, services, and equipment in line with the organization's policies and donor requirements
- Identify and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and high-quality products
- Track and manage inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment of stock as needed
- Coordinate the logistics for shipping, receiving, and distribution of supplies and materials to various project sites
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders and invoices
- Maintain and update records of purchases, suppliers, contracts, and deliveries
- Work closely with program teams to understand and anticipate purchasing and logistics needs
- Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and organizational policies
- Assist in the preparation of procurement reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in procurement planning and budgeting exercises
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of donor procurement regulations (e.g., USAID, EU, etc.) is an advantage
- Proven track record of successful teamwork using virtual collaboration
- Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese a plus
