Summary

Join Datacom as a Senior Change and Release Manager and be responsible for releasing application software into user acceptance and production environments. Guide successful adoption of organizational strategic priorities through the delivery of people-focused change management. This hands-on role leads change activities at all levels to support readiness for change and embed new ways of working. You will enforce change control standards, ensure timely communication of migration tasks, and guarantee proper packaging and versioning of release components. Responsibilities include scheduling releases, identifying continuous improvement methods, raising tasks in the change control system, and guiding application developers. You will also facilitate release meetings, maintain documentation, ensure customer change control procedures are followed, and integrate release policy with other ICT policies. The role also involves maintaining and supporting change management systems and coordinating user acceptance testing activities.

Requirements

  • Sound understanding and application of change management competencies
  • Sound understanding and application of Project Management competencies including scope, time, costs, quality, HR, communications, risk, procurement, and integration
  • Sound understanding of business requirements and technical limitations as determined by the organisation’s enterprise architecture
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies and their practical applications in supporting business requirements
  • Knowledge of best-practice service based methodologies and processes (i.e. ITIL)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing people and teams
  • 5-7+ years’ experience in Information Technology, with at least 2 years of IT Project Management
  • Prior experience in deploying, maintaining and improving policy and process in an IT context
  • Ability to frequently interact with a variety of stakeholders and team members, normally involving matters between functional areas, other Datacom divisions, customers and the company
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organisational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture
  • Proven negotiating skills with the aptitude to ensure win/win situations for all parties
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer relationship building and management skills
  • Strong influencing and persuasive ability
  • Strong consultative and planning skills. Ability to escalate with a solution focus

Responsibilities

  • Enforce and policing in-house change control standards and procedures
  • Ensure that all migration related tasks are properly communicated to all relevant parties and that they are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure all components of a release have been packaged and versioned as per appropriate standards
  • Ensure all aspects of Release Readiness are accommodated for in preparation for go-live including, but not limited to, testing completion, security and privacy readiness, support readiness, operational readiness and overall implementation readiness
  • Schedule and controlling the movement of releases through the various test, pre-production and production environments
  • Identify appropriate continuous service improvement methods for Release Management and seek input from key stakeholders
  • Raise necessary tasks in internal change control system
  • Provide guidance and directions to application developers with regards to the change control procedures
  • Facilitate all release meetings as required (e.g. implementation plan walkthroughs, Release Readiness, Post Implementation Reviews etc)
  • Ensure process, procedure and work instruction documentation for Release Management activities are correct and up-to-date
  • Ensure that customer change control procedures are followed
  • Ensure the effective integration of release policy and process with other customer ICT policies and processes including security, SDLC and project management policies and processes
  • Maintain, configuring and supporting of change management systems
  • Coordinating user acceptance testing activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial management, including cost estimation and budget tracking and reporting
  • Proven experience in managing an effective and coordinated release management function
  • Master of Business Administration
  • ITIL v3 Practitioner or ITIL v4 Managing Professional certification
