Remote Engineering Manager, Infrastructure

Summary

Join Whatnot, the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe, as an Engineering Manager for the Platform Engineering team. You'll lead the development of a scalable platform, hire engineers, collaborate with product engineering and infrastructure engineering counterparts, and plan and manage projects.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools like Terraform
• Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup. You're an excellent problem solver and a self-starter who can hit the ground running with little direction
• Technical leader with hands-on experience in large distributed systems
• Experience leading a team of engineers, guiding them through both their career development, and executing in a high growth environment
• Have low ego, an appetite to build, and employ good judgment in making hard trade-offs with limited resources
• Effectively recruit, mentor, retain, and measure high performing teams
• Can effectively manage stakeholders, competing priorities and deal with ambiguity
• Have substantial hands-on experience of doing the job you'll be managing
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Hire and develop engineers across all platform applications and backend systems
• Collaborate with product engineering and infrastructure engineering counterparts to set strategic direction of the team, advocating for technical platform solutions that help us grow Whatnot as a whole
• Plan and manage projects, coordinating and aligning your team's goals against others across the business
