About PostHog

PostHog helps engineers build better products. We are a single platform to analyze, test, observe, and deploy new features. We give engineers product & web analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments, a CDP, SQL access, and a data warehouse… and there’s plenty more to come.

PostHog was created as an open-source project during Y Combinator’s W20 cohort and had the most successful B2B software launch on HackerNews since 2012 - with a product that was just 4 weeks old. Since then, more than 70,000 companies have installed the platform. We’ve had huge success with our paid upgrades, raised $27m from some of the world’s top investors, and have shown strong product-led growth - 97% driven by word of mouth.

We’re growing quickly but sustainably - we’re default alive, averaging 10% monthly revenue growth, with >$10m ARR. We’re staying focused on building an awesome product for end users, hiring a handful of exceptional team members, and seeing fantastic growth as a result.

What we value

  • We are open source - building a huge community around a free-for-life product is key to PostHog’s strategy.

  • We aim to become the most transparent company, ever. In order to enable teams to make great decisions, we share as much information as we can. In our public handbook everyone can read about our roadmap, how we pay (or even let go of) people, what our strategy is, and who we have raised money from. We also have regular team-wide feedback sessions, where we share honest feedback with each other.

  • Working autonomously and maximizing impact - we don’t tell anyone what to do. Everyone chooses what to work on next based on what is going to have the biggest impact on our customers.

  • Solve big problems - we haven’t built our defining feature yet. We are all about acting fast, innovating, and iterating.

Who we’re looking for

Our cofounder James needs an Executive Assistant to stay organized. This is what we’re looking for!

  • Super, ridiculously proactive. Cannot emphasize this enough. Maybe we did. Who knows.

  • Meticulously organized.

  • Hungry. You want to take on more and more work and get everything done.

  • Steep slope - you can dive into things and learn stuff.

  • You want this for at least two years. We want you to be one of the best people in the world at this job.

  • Degree required and excellent written English. You do not need experience.

  • You need to live somewhere that enables you to travel to Cambridge once a week.

Why this role is cool

You will learn how a very fast-growth startup worth hundreds of millions of dollars works, from the perspective of one of two cofounders running it. You will see how we build and sell products, raise money, and run every team.

We are at an inflection point where we’ve started scaling much more quickly so you’ll have a front-row seat on what happens next.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing James’s time - you’ll control his calendar.

  • Being the default person to correspond with other founders, job applicants, investors, and anything else that comes in.

  • Helping out with personal stuff - paying bills, getting the car MOT’ed, taxes. Keep me as focused on the business as possible.

  • Shadowing on lots of calls so you have a grip on what’s going on.

  • Occasional travel with James around Europe or the US (assume around 1 week every 1-2 months).

  • One day a week you need to come to Cambridge ad hoc to do stuff in person with him, so you need to live somewhere that makes this feasible.

  • Our cofounder Tim needs a bit of help with scheduling and occasional travel booking, but that’s a couple of hours per week max.

What you won’t be doing

  • Restricting access to James/being a Chief of Staff

  • Creating strategy slides

  • Aligning people

If you have a disability, please let us know if there’s any way we can make the interview process better for you - we’re happy to accommodate!
