Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing (agency experience a plus)
  • Working knowledge of and experience with navigating within a variety of different Payroll systems and modules
  • CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus
  • Previous experience with multi-location payroll and taxes
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and procedures
  • Strong typing and computer skills, including MSWord/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Processing Payroll: Ensuring that our client’s employees are paid accurately and on time, including calculating wages, salaries, bonuses, and deductions
  • Compliance: Staying up-to-date with local, state, and federal payroll regulations and ensuring that our client’s payroll practices comply with these laws
  • Recordkeeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of employee earnings, deductions, and other payroll-related information
  • Benefits Administration: Coordinating deductions for employee benefits like health insurance, retirement plans, 401k contributions, HSA contributions, and other contributions
  • Audit Support: Assisting with internal or external audits by providing necessary payroll data and documentation
  • System Implementation: Helping companies transition to new payroll software or improve existing payroll processes
  • Process Documentation: Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of payroll processes and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Savvy Payroll Professional who works well as a team player and works well with clients from a support role (you don’t assume you have all the answers)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, can be calming and reassuring to the client and convey credibility
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Who You Are & What We Need:

We’re looking for experienced Payroll Professionals with flexible and humble work styles who are interested in and comfortable with full-cycle payroll processing. It’s where our clients have the most needs!

Although we have a few needs from time to time for those wanting to work evenings or weekends, most of our project needs require availability during usual business hours to support our clients and meet their business needs.  This means, you’d need to be readily available to process payroll, tackle a payroll issue, a call or other duties as needed.  This position is for fractional work, meaning hours will vary week to week and there may be weeks or more where there is no work at all to send your way and you’re ok with this.  In addition, this is a remote opportunity.

What You’ll Be Doing:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing payroll support for clients.  This position will be responsible for processing payroll for multi-state, multi-entity, hourly and salary employees; and will include timesheet upload, employee changes, commissions, 401(k) deductions, taxes, and referral bonuses. The Payroll Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • P rocessing Payroll: Ensuring that our client’s employees are paid accurately and on time, including calculating wages, salaries, bonuses, and deductions
  • Compliance: Staying up-to-date with local, state, and federal payroll regulations and ensuring that our client’s payroll practices comply with these laws

  • Strong typing and computer skills, including MSWord/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook. Basically, you must be tech-savvy because of rapidly changing technology and because you may need to quickly adapt to using different systems for different clients
