Summary
Join SmarterDx's growing finance team as a Revenue Manager, playing a critical role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, compliance with accounting standards (ASC 606), and financial statement preparation. Lead and standardize the revenue accounting process, working cross-functionally to streamline billing and collections. You will own commission calculations, prepare for month-end close, document accounting conclusions, maintain compliance, and assist with audits. Identify process improvement opportunities and oversee sales tax compliance. This fully remote US-based role requires 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in revenue accounting, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and strong knowledge of ASC 606. A CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years focused on revenue accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles
- Expertise in billing processes, invoicing, and collections strategies
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with revenue automation tools and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Lead and standardize the revenue accounting process which includes customer onboarding, relationship management, contract review, invoice preparation, revenue recognition, supporting documentation and revenue related financial reporting
- Work cross functionally with the growth, customer success and other teams to streamline billing, collection and revenue processes
- Own calculation and payment of commissions to sales reps
- Prepare revenue recognition processes in compliance with ASC 606
- Own preparation of the revenue related month-end close activities
- Document accounting conclusions in audit memos
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Assist in audit requests and external audit support
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automation and efficiency improvements to scale workflows and improve the full revenue cycle
- Oversee and enhance sales tax compliance including monitoring nexus and required filings
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license
- Strong familiarity with revenue automation tools and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus
- Having scaled led or played a key role in scaling the revenue function
