You will play a central role in enhancing our monthly close process, leading process improvement projects, and supporting various accounting functions. Requirements
- Have an undergraduate degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field
- Have 4+ years work experience in accounting
- Have an understanding of consolidation, fair value, and ASC 606 accounting
- Have a thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial accounting fundamentals
- Have experience in a regulated industry, preferably financial services or crypto
- Have the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced and changing financial environment with the demonstrated capacity for excellent judgment, communication, and negotiation skills
- Have outstanding interpersonal skills and relationship building abilities
- Have strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage deadlines and responsibilities effectively; ability to multitask and work successfully under pressure
- Have experience working in an accounting function within a large enterprise general ledger (Sage Intacct, Netsuite, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Perform daily and month-end responsibilities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis related to digital assets and revenue
- Be responsible for the accounting and reporting for Geminiβs cryptocurrency transactions, including the tracking and accounting for transactions, gains, losses, and holdings
- Assist in the development and implementation of scalable accounting processes to facilitate timely and accurate close processes and financial reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Data, Finance, and Product teams
- Support external relationships with audit professionals, consultants, and tax advisors, inclusive of networking and building contingency plans for possible future transactions and related accounting permutations
- Assist with outsourcing financial activities to Gemini affiliates and any sub-outsourcing to third party service providers, ensuring services are provided in accordance with the respective regulatory requirements and internal policies, processes and procedures and agreed service level agreement
- Execute ad hoc accounting tasks and special projects as they arise, ensuring timely and accurate completion to support the dynamic needs of the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Have Big 4 accounting firm experience
- Have a CPA (or equivalent license)
