Summary

Join GRF CPAs & Advisors, a Bethesda, MD CPA firm, as a Senior Accountant on our Outsourced Accounting and Advisory Services team. This role involves supervising and executing engagements using cloud-based accounting systems like Sage Intacct and QuickBooks Online. You will handle monthly close processes, train staff, and maintain client relationships. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, 3+ years of public accounting or private industry experience, and CPA licensure or active exam preparation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3 years or more experience in public accounting or private industry, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed
  • Either hold a current and valid certified public accountant's license or be in active preparation to sit for the CPA exam

Responsibilities

  • Handle aspects of the monthly close including reconciliations, preparation of supporting schedules, financial analysis and quality review, financial reporting
  • Use, train, and implement cloud-based tools such as Bill.com, Nexonia, Tallie and others
  • Coordinate various phases of engagements with engagement supervisor or manager; review working papers for accuracy & completeness, communicate with clients
  • Provide supervision and on-the-job training to staff assigned to engagement as needed
  • Train staff members, offer guidance and direction and give constructive criticism
  • Assist clients with an understanding of financial reporting and other accounting matters
  • Ensure that deliverables are prepared in accordance with generally accepted professional and firm standards
  • Communicate engagement's progress, problems, resolutions, financial information, tax activity and other business concerns to the client and the partner in charge
  • Maintain strong client relationships
  • Organize projects, set priorities, and delegate tasks under evolving circumstances for different clients & partners
  • Keep long term objectives in mind while focusing on daily activities
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive firm and client information
  • Mentor and train staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • A concentration in nonprofit organizations
  • Prior CPA firm experience
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Sage Intacct
  • Experience with cloud-based applications such as Bill.com, Tallie, Expensify
