Senior Accountant

Summary

Join Monarch, a top-recommended personal finance app, as a Senior Accountant to help build and transition our accounting function in-house. This foundational role offers the chance to create modern, scalable processes from the ground up, working closely with our outsourced accounting partner. You will own core parts of the monthly and quarterly close, support audit preparation, and collaborate cross-functionally. This high-impact role provides immediate responsibility and visibility, especially with the Controller's upcoming parental leave. Requirements

• 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong technical accounting skills and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Background in Big Four public accounting or high-growth startups is required; experience in both is strongly preferred
• Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and is excited to build from scratch
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Mission-driven and eager to make a meaningful impact

Responsibilities

• Support the transition of accounting operations from outsourced to in-house
• Own core parts of the monthly and quarterly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
• Maintain and refine the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Partner with FP&A on variance analysis, accruals, and reporting deliverables
• Support audit preparation and interface with external auditors and tax advisors
• Help identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and scale
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including FP&A, People Ops, and Engineering
