Summary
Join Fannie Mae's Enterprise Analytics and Modeling team as a Senior Associate in Model Governance Solutions (MGS). MGS is a first line of defense team focused on driving efficiency, consistency, and compliance in model management, including AI/ML. You will assess and identify model risks, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to a comprehensive model inventory. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with a team dedicated to fair and affordable housing finance. You will drive adoption of the model governance framework, execute on governance compliance for AI/ML, and work with stakeholders to identify risks and value in AI/ML use cases. The position requires a bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2 years of risk management, governance or AI/ML experience
Responsibilities
- Drive adoption and sustainability of the model governance framework by owners and users of models
- Execute on tactical elements of governance compliance for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)
- Work with key stakeholders on identifying heightened risks, controls, and value of prospective AI/ML use cases
- Be part of the team responsible for providing program management and shared services in 1St Line of Defense model management
- Contribute to comprehensive model inventory
- Work with team members and leadership to deliver effective reporting
- Partner with Model Risk Management and other functions performing effective challenge of models and use cases
Preferred Qualifications
- An ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of risk management experience with exposure to model risk and AI/ML
- Experience in the practices, policies, and frameworks that guide the development, deployment, and management of AI/ML models
- Track record of execution, strong prioritization, and effective time management
- Relationship management skills to partner with team members and stakeholders as needed
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex processes in business terms
- Experience in Financial Services or other highly regulated industries
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify, make recommendations, and implement process improvements in day-to-day activities
- Ability to work independently, but also comfortable working and contributing within a team environment
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and ever evolving environment
- Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
- Skilled in creating visual concepts, creating content, and editing content by hand or with the help with computer software to communicate ideas
- Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
- Governance and Compliance skills including creating policies, evaluating compliance, conducting internal investigations, developing data governance, etc
- Relationship Management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and building relationship networks
- Passion for AI, Machine Learning and Data Analysis. Interest in exploring AI/ML trends and techniques outside of day-to-day job duties
- Learn, provide, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry and regulatory standards, best practices, and business processes used in model risk management
- Be a self-starter
