Summary

Join LastPass as a Senior Business Data Analyst and collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to uncover insights from complex systems data. You will support the development of robust, scalable data infrastructure through in-depth analysis, documentation, and feedback. Work with global engineering teams on various data-related use cases, including business intelligence and machine learning. Closely collaborate with stakeholders across different teams to bridge the gap between business processes and systems data. Conduct in-depth analysis of source system data and translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications. Contribute to data quality and integrity practices.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a business analyst, data analyst, or in a data quality-focused role - preferably in a tech or SaaS environment
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational and/or columnar databases (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks)
  • Comfortable working with raw, unmodeled data including event logs, normalized schemas, and API payloads
  • Experience collaborating with data engineering or software engineering teams
  • Strong critical thinking skills and an investigative mindset for identifying and solving data-related challenges
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts, data warehousing, and data modeling best practices
  • Excellent communication skills - you’re able to clearly translate between technical and business perspectives
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of source system data, logs, and event streams to inform data engineering pipelines and architecture
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand data generation and translate that into clear documentation and business-friendly data models
  • Partner with data engineers to validate transformations, resolve anomalies, and ensure alignment between data outputs and business needs
  • Investigate data discrepancies across systems and provide actionable insights for root cause resolution
  • Assist in defining and refining key business metrics and dimensions, ensuring consistent implementation across datasets
  • Support the creation of data lineage documentation and contribute to data quality and integrity practices
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications and support the adoption of new datasets or data products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using tools like JIRA or Confluence to manage requirements and documentation is a plus
  • Experience with Python
  • Familiarity with AWS tools such as Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions
