Requirements

  • 8+ years of increasingly responsible roles in Human Resources
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. state and federal laws and governmental compliance requirements and current principles and best practices of human resources management
  • Experience leading and managing small teams across remote work environments and developing direct reports to support their career advancement
  • Experience designing and implementing organization-wide projects in a multi-state environment
  • Expertise in all facets of a staff-facing HR role
  • Experience managing hiring and recruiting
  • Experience working with PEOs and administering HRIS systems and oversight of 3rd party vendors
  • Experience identifying and implementing training solutions to develop managerial capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • You must be eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Lead all people operations and processes including compensation reviews and planning, benefits and payroll administration, employment law and regulatory compliance, and The Look Back Look Forward review program as well as our HRIS that supports our Look Back Look Forward program
  • Provide HR expertise and advice to leadership and managers on a range of issues, including employee relations, labor laws, and HR best practices
  • Advise on key people, culture, and equity issues
  • Manage the PEO including assessing capabilities, service levels, and, where appropriate, make recommendations for supplemental/standalone resources to support organizational needs
  • Oversee recruitment process including defining and implementing strategies to attract, hire, and retain top talent with a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Manage employee relations, including investigations and dispute resolution in line with legislation and company policy. Work with external legal counsel as needed to resolve employment and workforce compliance issues
  • Manage or delegate management of HR consultants
  • Review and manage an equitable compensation policy
  • Contribute to the development of a healthy, connected, and intentional workplace culture through multiple avenues
  • With the People and Culture Manager, this position will oversee all professional development activities across the organization and develop programs that promote staff engagement
  • Oversee coordination of team building and staff appreciation events with People and Culture Manager (e.g., retreats, social events, and group activities)
  • Provide cultural stewardship by supporting leadership and staff to live our core values while achieving our organizational goals
  • Ensure fluid and transparent communication and information sharing about HR initiatives across all levels of the organization
  • Manage a small HR team, building a positive, productive and equitable team culture
  • Develop and manage the annual Human Resources budget in collaboration with the Sr. Finance Manager

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification
  • Experience working in an academic or not-for-profit setting
