Summary

Join Underdog, a rapidly growing sports gaming company, as their SEO Manager. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive SEO strategy, overseeing site architecture and performance, and collaborating with various teams to ensure SEO best practices are integrated. This role requires strong technical SEO expertise, proficiency in SEO tools, and the ability to analyze data and derive actionable insights. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and experimenting with new techniques to optimize performance. Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in technical SEO, preferably within the gaming, consumer app, or e-commerce industry
  • Strong understanding of search engine algorithms, crawling, indexation, and ranking factors
  • Proficiency in using SEO tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and other relevant platforms
  • Solid understanding of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and the ability to communicate technical SEO concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data visualization tools like Looker or Google Data Studio to derive actionable insights
  • Experience managing and optimizing mobile SEO and understanding mobile-first indexing strategies
  • Knowledge of international SEO, including hreflang, geo-targeting, and multi-language strategies for global search success
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive SEO-focused decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SEO strategy focused on both technical SEO and content optimization, ensuring maximum visibility for Underdog Sports in organic search results
  • Oversee site architecture, crawlability, indexation, and site performance to improve search engine rankings, user experience, and overall site health
  • Partner with product, marketing engineering, and design teams to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into site infrastructure
  • Implement reporting best practices for a nascent SEO function
  • Conduct regular technical SEO audits to identify and resolve issues related to crawl errors, duplicate content, site speed, structured data, and indexation
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve SEO performance, working closely with engineering teams to implement these changes
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (including product, design, and marketing teams) to ensure SEO is prioritized during product launches, site updates, and redesigns
  • Act as the SEO subject matter expert and provide guidance on SEO strategy, prioritization, and execution to ensure all teams understand the impact of SEO efforts
  • Monitor SEO performance using tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc. to track keyword rankings, site performance, and traffic trends
  • Analyze data to uncover insights and identify new growth opportunities, ensuring that SEO strategies are continually optimized for maximum impact
  • Stay up to date with the latest SEO trends, Google algorithm updates, and emerging technologies to ensure Underdog Sports is at the forefront of industry best practices
  • Experiment with and implement new SEO techniques, tools, and automation solutions to increase efficiency and performance
  • Analyze and report on the impact of new SEO strategies and tactics to ensure continuous optimization

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of local SEO strategies and experience working with multi-location businesses is a plus
