You will spearhead the design, implementation, and management of a novel RCM solution tailored for rural hospitals and health systems. Leveraging your expertise in clinical documentation, coding, billing, and denials, you will collaborate with product, engineering, and implementation teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a cutting-edge, AI-enabled RCM service from the ground up, influencing product decisions and operationalizing the service model. The position is hybrid, combining strategic guidance with hands-on involvement, and offers growth potential into a leadership role. Homeward is committed to improving healthcare access and quality in rural communities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in revenue cycle operations, with deep inpatient coding and denial management expertise
  • Experience working in or with health systems and hospitals
  • Experience implementing, supporting and operating computer-assisted coding tools and denial management platforms
  • Familiarity with next-gen AI-enabled RCM tools or an appetite to learn
  • Comfort working across disciplines: product, clinical ops, engineering, and external partners
  • Ability to work independently, creatively, and self-direct in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to represent Homeward with external partners

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on inpatient and outpatient coding, billing, and denial management
  • Collaborate with Homeward product and implementation teams to create scalable, tech-enabled processes that reflect real-world RCM operations
  • Participate in vendor evaluation and selection, providing a practical lens on features, workflows, and feasibility
  • Participate in early provider implementations and, if needed, support client-facing interactions
  • Directly operate the RCM platform during early pilots to ensure optimal functionality, identify improvements, and establish scalable workflows
  • Act as an end-user of the tech-enabled product and processes to ensure customer delight and strong performance
  • Help define quality standards, coding accuracy benchmarks, and service SLAs
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindsetโ€”surfacing insights that help evolve the product and service model

Preferred Qualifications

  • Outpatient coding and denial management experience
  • Background working in tech-enabled healthcare delivery

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity grant, generous paid time off
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental & vision insurance with 100% of monthly premium covered for employees
