Senior Risk Strategist

Summary

Join Mercury's Risk Strategy team as a strategist, leveraging your risk expertise and analytical skills to drive impact. You will utilize data to develop risk management strategies, lead cross-functional efforts to scale user onboarding, partner with Compliance and Legal, and develop domain expertise to optimize processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience in risk management and financial services, and proficiency in SQL. Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in an analytical role, including 3+ years in risk, financial services/fintech, trust and safety, or a related field
• Strong SQL skills and experience in applying those to improve and monitor business performance

Responsibilities

• Utilize data and quantitative analysis to develop strategy for managing risk while navigating trade-offs in a principled and balanced way
• Lead cross-functional efforts across Ops, Product, Eng, and Data Science to scale user onboarding while creating magical experiences
• Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure product and operational solutions meet regulatory requirements
• Develop domain expertise and proactively seek out opportunities to close gaps and optimize processes
• Represent Mercury’s risk appetite when collaborating with other teams across the company

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with customer risk scoring/modeling, manual process optimization/automation, developing fraud controls, or developing risk strategies for new products
• Confidence with using data and intuition to make decisions in a fast paced, ambiguous environment, while demonstrating curiosity and a growth mindset
• Desire to build programs from the ground up, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to achieve results
