Responsibilities include collecting user needs, leading design workshops, writing technical documentation, and ensuring smooth project deployment. The ideal candidate possesses a Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, 5+ years of architecture design experience, and proficiency in cloud technologies, DevOps, and data engineering. Requirements

• A Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience on architecture design in a Solution Architect role on critical infrastructure programs, in demanding enterprise environments
• Proven design and hands-on proficiency in several areas amongst (and knowledgeable of the rest of them): Public Cloud ( AWS is mandatory , GCP, Azure is nice to have)
• Cloud Compute, Cloud Storage (block-, object-, file-), Cloud Network (VPC, NAT, VPN, firewall, WAF, LB), Linux
• Containers & orchestration : Docker, Kubernetes
• Automation : Flux, Ansible, Terraform
• Data engineering: Pipeline, curation, QC
• Workflow management (Aiflow preferred)
• Database, Data Lake, Data Warehouse
• AI/ML
• DevOps, GitOps, CI/CD, APIs
• Security
• Educated on cyber-security best practices
• Knowledgeable about software engineering and software architecture
• Project management and leadership skills
• Highly organized and meticulous about details: capable of tackling complex problems logically and effectively

Responsibilities

• Design transformational and innovative IT solutions that tackle demanding business or science needs, in a cost-effective and timely way
• Collect and understand users (Data Scientists, Biomedical Researchers, Project Managers, Finance, Senior Leadership Team...) functional and technical needs and translate them into IT architecture and specifications
• Lead meetings and workshops dedicated to design, refinement, integration, presentation and defence of solutions with external and internal stakeholders
• Identify, enroll and drive Subject Matter Experts to support your projects progress
• Write-up, deliver and defend technical documents (high-level design, detailed specifications, Architecture Decision Record), until review, validation and adoption
• Follow-up projects’ deployment and integration until completion: build and update plannings & timelines regularly, give regular status and highlight at the right level urgency/major issues
• Ensure a clean handover to SREs, SEs and Data Eng for deployment, integration and run
• Fulfill and enforce the Owkin Engineering standards
• Contribute to Owkin Engineering achievements by: Writing, reviewing, commenting and enhancing Technical Topics documents, Architecture Decision Record, Blueprints, ad-hoc studies
• Drive or support POCs and products evaluation
• Carry out technology watch, and share with your peers
• Occasionally lead call for tenders: RFP writing
• Selection criteria table crafting
• Host meetings with vendors and challenge their offerings
• Liaise with the Purchase team and ensure compliance with our policies
• Contribute to the contract and get the PO sent
• Follow-up the deployment, integration, and readiness plan

Preferred Qualifications

A TOGAF or an AWS Cloud Architect certification is a plus
