Summary

The job is for a Senior Solutions Architect at OmniData, a Portland-based consulting firm. The role involves working on Big Data, Data Warehouse, and Analytics projects using Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI, Dynamics 365, and related Microsoft technologies.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills tying together technology and architecture to achieve successful business outcomes
  • At least 2 years of consulting experience, or similar, in a lead or architect role, including structuring delivery plans, requirements gathering, and technical implementation
  • At least 5 years of work experience in data and analytics or strongly related fields
  • At least 2 years of experience designing and implementing solutions in the Azure platform
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural concepts, including data storage, data engineering, data modeling, infrastructure, security, networking, disaster recovery, performance, governance
  • Advanced knowledge in ETL/ELT tools and designing data pipelines/packages using tools like Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, SSIS, etc
  • Strong ability to successfully mentor and guide peers and team members in technology concepts and tools
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills, including leading other team members

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the full project lifecycle of a client engagement, in partnership with a project manager
  • Lead discovery, requirements gathering and analysis, architecture, design, and development of Azure based data warehouses and analytics solutions
  • Form trusted advisor relationships with client project and technical leaders, while helping to define their Azure focused data strategies
  • Develop and maintain client’s and the internal organization’s data architecture and standards, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models, database design, data engineering, and data architecture
  • Establish and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and trends and recommend improvements to the organization's data architecture
  • Mentor other OmniData team members in data and analytics architecture, standards, and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of modern Project Management/Delivery methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
  • Intermediate experience working with Application Development solutions and best practices
  • Experience working in Azure Devops with Boards, Repos and Pipelines
  • Experience with Automation tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, IaaC / Terraform, and scripting
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and its data
  • Experience with Power BI and/or Power Platform development
  • Experience with AI/ML capabilities, such as Azure Cognitive Services and ML Studio
