Solutions Engineer

Summary

The Solutions Engineer will manage and ensure operational stability of the Global Object Storage Platform, create technical documentation, and participate in ongoing efforts to improve monitoring. The role requires proficiency in various storage platforms, ITIL Framework understanding, and 5+ years managing Enterprise Storage solutions.

Requirements

• Object Storage Platform Proficiency in: Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), Hitachi Content Platform for Cloud Scale (HCPCS), Cloudian, Cohesity, Dell ECS
• Block Storage Array Platform Proficiency in: Hitachi (HDS) VSP, Hitachi (HDS) G-Series, HPE MSA, Lenovo DE ThinkSystemBrocade Switches & SAN Fabric
• Strong understanding of the ITIL Framework
• Demonstrable excellence in self-managing monitoring alerts & ticket management
• 5+ years managing Enterprise Storage solutions
• 5+ years of fibre channel-based Enterprise SAN administration
• 5+ years Enterprise Linux /Unix OS
• 5+ years in a 24/7/365, multi-tiered, multi-tenant global Production Environments
• 5+ years administration and support of VMware ESXi
• 3+ years of operational experience administering Public, Private, or Hybrid Cloud

Responsibilities

• Direct oversight and technical ownership of our Global Object Storage Platform and technical documentation
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and guides for processes, procedures, troubleshooting, providing knowledge sharing and mentoring
• Proactively investigate alerts and take ownership of escalated incidents
• Lead problem management efforts by offering RCA in cooperation with vendor support channels
• Actively participate in ongoing efforts to Identify and recommend alert tuning to further enhance Zabbix monitoring and potentially reduce false positives
• Provide on call support in rotation for production Object Storage platform

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with competing Object Storage platforms such as Cloudian Hyperstore, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, SwiftStack, Dell ECS
• Understanding of VEEAM, Commvault, Data Domain, and Avamar as it pertains to leveraging Object Storage as a target
• Versity and Qstar backup to tape knowledge
• Fibre channel switching on Brocade
• Block Storage platform administration including deployment, zoning, and storage allocation
• Solid understanding of routing and switching concepts and technology
• Zabbix monitoring and familiarity with alert tuning
