Technical Program Manager - Inventory

StackAdapt
Summary
Join StackAdapt's Advertising Technology team as a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead key initiatives enhancing the performance of their bidder. You will focus on improving performance, traffic optimization, auction dynamics, and margin by driving projects related to real-time bidding, inventory signals, and data science. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of openRTB and auction signal behavior and can translate complex technical goals into actionable programs. This role involves hands-on program execution, from scoping and planning to impact measurement, ensuring the bidding strategy translates into measurable improvements. You will collaborate with various teams, including Backend Engineering, Data Science, and other stakeholders. The position requires strong knowledge of programmatic advertising and openRTB, along with 3-5 years of experience in technical program management within ad tech or high-scale platforms.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of programmatic advertising, including expert-level understanding of openRTB protocol and auction signal mechanics
- 3–5+ years of experience in technical program management, technical operations, or similar roles within ad tech or high-scale platforms
- Skilled in data analysis and modelling, with a strong ability to develop scalable, insights-driven solutions
- Extensive experience with SQL/Python for querying and analyzing large datasets to inform decisions, validate hypotheses, and measure program impact
- Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional technical programs with clarity and structure
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence without authority across engineering, data, and product-adjacent teams
- Curiosity, autonomy, and the ability to dig into how things work to uncover root causes and spot new opportunities
Responsibilities
- Drive Bidding-Focused Initiatives: Lead high-impact programs that optimize bidder performance across win rate, margin, and delivery. Develop a deep understanding of how our bidder consumes signals and orchestrate the technical workstreams to drive improvement
- Orchestrate Execution Across Teams: Scope and manage technical projects end-to-end, partnering with Backend Engineering, Data Science, and other internal stakeholders. Provide structure, track progress, and drive accountability to ensure timely and successful delivery
- Signal Strategy & Evaluation: Serve as a subject matter expert on openRTB signals and auction dynamics. Work with internal teams to evaluate new signals, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions that impact bidder behaviour and platform performance
- Measurement & Data Analysis: Define, clarify, and track success metrics across initiatives. Utilize SQL and internal data tools to analyze the impact and collaborate with Data Science to evaluate performance shifts over time
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other TPMs, Data Science, Infrastructure, and Performance Program teams to align priorities and ensure initiatives are delivered holistically. Engage with external partners only when technical strategy or escalations require deeper alignment
- Internal Strategy Partner: Translate top-level strategic goals into executable technical programs. Help senior leadership operationalize goals such as “improve auction competitiveness” or “increase win rate on high-value supply” by defining scope, dependencies, and timelines
