Summary
Join MongoDB's Technical Services team as a FedRamp Engineer based remotely in Hawaii! You'll work with major clients, resolving complex challenges related to architecture, performance, security, and more. This third-shift role requires expertise in MongoDB and related technologies, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You'll collaborate with product and development teams and contribute to internal projects. The position demands strong technical skills in areas like systems administration, distributed systems, and database architecture. A commitment to the third shift (6 pm-3 am HT) is desired, with flexibility during an initial ramping period. Requirements
- Strong technical experience in one (or more) of the following areas: Systems administration, Distributed systems, Network administration, Database architecture and administration, Application architecture, Data architecture and design, Performance tuning and benchmarking
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Genuine desire to help people
- Uncontrollable urge to investigate and solve problems, with advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure, and solve problems in real-time
- Desire and ability to rapidly learn a wide variety of new technical skills
- Strong teamwork: willingness and ability to get help from team members when required, and the good judgment to know when to seek help
- Candidates will be expected to work from home, and must have sufficient home offices to be able to facilitate both normal day work as well as overnight on-call / shift work, including a quiet space to work and take calls, sufficient access to the internet to support video calling, cell phone service, etc
- Be a US Person (i.e. U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee)
- Willingness and ability to participate in pager duty rotations during nights, weekends and holidays (approximately one out of every six weeks), at least during an initial ramping period (and potentially permanently)
Responsibilities
- Work alongside largest customers, solving their complex challenges - resolving questions on architecture, performance, recovery, security, and everything in between
- Be an expert resource on best practices in scaling MongoDB, from initially small implementations to some of the largest in the world
- Be an advocate for customers' needs - interfacing with our product management and development teams on their behalf
- Contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics
- Support our government customers in our FedRamp Atlas environment
- This includes SLED (State and Local Government and Education), various federal agencies, and other customers that leverage FedRamp
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in one or more of: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Javascript, node.js, Go, PHP, or Perl
- Experience administering large-scale production environments, including hardware, operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows), networks (including firewalls and load balancers), as well as cloud-based resources (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
