Summary
Join LaunchDarkly's small but impactful documentation team as a Senior Technical Writer. This fully remote US-based role (with occasional Bay Area travel) requires strong technical writing and editing skills, along with a technical background (7+ years experience or tech degree). You will create and maintain documentation for LaunchDarkly's products, APIs, and SDKs, collaborating with various teams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, comfortable working independently and collaboratively, proficient in Markdown/HTML, Git, and various tools. Requirements
- You must have very strong writing and editing skills
- You must have 7+ years of technical writing experience and/or a degree in a tech field or related industry
- You must have a strong technical background, possibly as a software developer. This role will require you to write and review code as well as documentation
- Youโre excellent at distilling technical and UX requirements into documentation plans and deliverables. You do not need an outline handed to youโyou can take your notes from a team meeting and act on them on your own
- Youโre equally strong working on your own or in a friendly, collaborative, close-knit team
- You must be conversational in Markdown and/or HTML, Git, GitHub, common CI /CD tools, and workflows based in version control tools
- You must have some familiarity with AI-based code and content management tools, like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude
- You must have some familiarity with Postman and OpenAPI specifications
Responsibilities
- Leverage your diverse skill set to write, edit, maintain, and enhance comprehensive documentation for LaunchDarkly products, APIs, and SDKs. This includes creating procedure-based documentation, crafting use-case-driven narrative guides, and addressing complex technical topics informed by engineering contributions
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, designers, and cross-functional teams to develop clear, concise documentation for new features and integrations
- Drive improvements by scoping, planning, and executing site upgrades in collaboration with the documentation team
- Partner with support, developer advocates, and product and engineering stakeholders to proactively address customer pain points, driving continuous documentation improvements
- Respond to user feedback swiftly and effectively, ensuring documentation aligns with organizational goals and consistently meets user needs while evolving with product advancements
