Summary
Join Movement Labs as the VP of Program Impact and spearhead fundraising efforts to support program incubation. Manage the fundraising team, including the CEO, and cultivate relationships with major donors. Develop and implement strategies to increase fundraising revenue, coach VPs on fundraising techniques, and mentor team members. This fully remote role requires exceptional communication, entrepreneurial spirit, and experience in political fundraising. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in managing people and building successful fundraising initiatives. A competitive salary, excellent benefits, and unlimited PTO are offered.
Responsibilities
- Connect program pilots to potential funders. We’ve got lots of ideas, both outlandish and great. You know exactly who would want to fund them and you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and make it happen
- Up-level CEO fundraising efforts. The current fundraising team provides basic support that facilitated tens of millions of dollars raised in 2024. You’ll attempt to improve on this
- Hold key relationships with donors. You’ll personally hold relationships with folks that can give between $50,000-$500,000
- Coach VPs to be fundraisers. Our VPs have some fundraising experience but they need your help getting into top form
- Management & Leadership. You’ll coach, mentor, and support Development Team members, helping to develop their skills and providing opportunities to grow. You will participate in meetings and projects to advance the organizational vision collaboratively with other senior directors while representing the needs of your team
- Develop new donation streams. While we have 13,000 volunteers on our Slack, we haven’t invested in any fundraising outside of our largest donors. This open space is your opportunity
Preferred Qualifications
- An exceptional communicator. Unlike this job description, you don’t use jargon or extra words
- An extremely entrepreneurial and unflappable manager. We incubate lots of things that die. It’s not a problem for you when plans change, and you’re comfortable with ambiguity and building structures that can withstand change
- Experience raising money for political organizations. You’ve worked in organizations with c3 and c4 and/or PAC vehicles for at least 10 years. You understand policy, party messaging, and grassroots organizing. You’ve solicited six-figure gifts. You can make complex political concepts and experimental methods both accessible and inspiring to donors who aren’t political insiders while also knowing how to work with donor advisors who are more focused on data and measurement
- A strong track record in managing people. You can motivate a high-performing team to knock it out of the park according to the metrics you helped set. As a manager, you know how to delegate skillfully and give meaningful feedback. You have experience holding a team accountable and providing support and direction for growing edges. You are well organized and have excellent time management skills. You have experience managing staff who work remotely. You can manage up effectively to get buy-in from the CEO and manage side-ways to get peer support
- An experienced strategist. You are proven to build, drive, and evaluate new fundraising initiatives. You thrive as a key leadership team member and are driven to impact the entire organization through your work
- You understand the national political fundraising landscape
- You understand how to prove whether a program has worked using quantitative metrics, including randomized control trials
