Summary

Join Walden University's College of Nursing as a part-time faculty member and teach core graduate nursing courses. This opportunity allows you to share your expertise with students worldwide while maintaining flexibility. You will utilize online technology to deliver engaging instruction and maintain a program of scholarship. New faculty receive comprehensive training in online teaching and Walden's learning platform. Successful candidates will possess a Master's and Doctorate in Nursing (preferably), along with teaching experience and current RN licensure. Compensation is based on factors such as course type, experience, and location.

Requirements

  • Earned Master’s in Nursing (MSN) AND an earned Doctorate (preferably in Nursing) from an accredited institution, with demonstrated coursework in one of the three specializations: nursing education, nursing informatics or nursing leadership and management
  • Possess a record of professional scholarly contributions to the field of nursing and a minimum of two years’ experience teaching graduate courses
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Evidence of current RN licensure in one of the 50 states in the US
  • Excellent communication, team, and human-relations skills
  • Be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or an institution that is recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the core graduate nursing courses
  • Work with other faculty and administrators in the College
  • Maintain a program of scholarship and/or practice in the area of their specialty
  • Assist with faculty orientation, development, mentoring/monitoring, and evaluation
  • Participate in school and university committee service
  • Educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources
  • Interact with students within the LMS (Learning Management System)
  • Be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and post responses to student questions within 48 hours
  • Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • Fully participate in university events and residencies when traveling

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
