Summary

Join Woflow as Controller and manage a team of two accountants, overseeing all accounting and finance functions. You will work closely with the CEO on financial decisions, reporting, and ad-hoc requests. Daily responsibilities include overseeing accounting entries, billing, and monthly/quarterly reporting, including trend analysis and KPI monitoring. You will prepare quarterly board materials and collaborate with senior management. This role offers unique insight into Woflow's product lines and the complexities of its industry, allowing you to refine internal processes and contribute to the company's vision. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, dependable, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and collaborates effectively.

Requirements

  • Well versed in full-cycle accounting and US GAAP requirements
  • CPA with 3+ years experience at a Big 4 Accounting Firm or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience managing direct reports
  • Ability to work alongside data scientists and engineers
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills
  • Strong experience with financial software (e.g., Xero, Quickbooks or similar)
  • An Excel grandmaster
  • Process-minded: you improve upon inefficient processes

Responsibilities

  • Review and process monthly accounting entries for various business transactions including billing, labor payouts and accruals
  • Prepare/review monthly account reconciliations and reporting schedules, providing commentary and variance analysis
  • Manage the accounting team, currently 2 direct reports
  • Assist management with financials for monthly and quarterly board meetings and investor updates
  • Assist leadership with Woflow’s financial model
  • Prepare annual accounts (currently unaudited), assist with tax filings and ensure all financial calendar responsibilities are met (1099s, Delaware Franchise filings, California SOI etc)
  • Participate in process improvements to streamline the monthly financial close process
  • Proactively identify issues and assist in optimizing systems, upgrades, and automation of accounting processes
  • Assist in development and implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Assist with financial due diligence when applicable
  • Document and monitor internal controls as part of operational accounting work
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects

Preferred Qualifications

Experience implementing and scaling accounting processes at a startup
