Summary

Join ecobee's world-class HR team as an HR Business Partner to provide guidance and support to various business units. This role involves employee relations, performance management, compensation, and engagement. You will partner with client groups and the broader HR team, reporting to the Director of HR. The position requires expertise in employee relations, absenteeism management, and partnering with leadership to enhance workforce engagement and performance. You will act as a strategic advisor and hands-on partner, ensuring compliance and proactive HR support. This role is crucial in fostering a performance-driven culture focused on talent management, coaching, and mentoring leaders.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field (HR certification preferred)
  • 5+ years of HRBP or generalist experience in high-volume environments, preferably in call centers
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations case management and attendance policy administration
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and investigation techniques
  • Proven ability to analyze HR data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
  • Experience working as an HR partner/ Employee Relations consultant, with both salaried and hourly employees
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Employment Law โ€“ with experience in provincially regulated companies in Ontario
  • You are comfortable adapting and driving change, as well as influencing leaders
  • You excel in building relationships, and people at all levels are comfortable confiding in you
  • Conflict resolution is where you shine, and you are excited to see growth being made within your teams
  • You describe yourself as organized and detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations (ER) Lead and resolve complex employee relations cases including investigations, grievances, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, and procedures
  • Coach managers on best practices in performance management and conflict resolution
  • Absenteeism & Attendance Management Monitor call centre absenteeism trends; develop and implement targeted strategies to reduce absenteeism and attrition
  • Partner with Operations and Workforce Planning to align schedules, coverage, and business continuity
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of absenteeism and implement corrective action plans
  • Oversee attendance policies and ensure fair application and consistent enforcement
  • HR Business Partnering Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on people strategy, team dynamics, and workforce planning
  • Partner on engagement, retention, and recognition initiatives specific to high-volume call center environments
  • Support change management efforts and continuous improvement of people processes
  • Drive the adoption of HR programs such as onboarding, performance reviews, and learning & development
  • Compliance & Reporting Ensure adherence to employment laws, internal controls, and audit readiness
  • Generate and present HR metrics and dashboards related to ER, absenteeism, and turnover using Workday and excel
  • Collaborate with HRIS and data teams to improve data quality and usage

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with Workday is preferred
