This position requires expertise in employee relations, performance management, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. employment laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with experience supporting employees in both Canada and the United States
- Strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. employment laws and regulations
- Deep expertise in U.S. employment law and compliance
- Experience with U.S. benefits and compensation programs
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Bamboo HR
- Experience working with multi state employers
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance issues, and policy interpretation
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints and grievances, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes
- Advise managers on disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans, ensuring compliance with legal and company policies
- Support the implementation and administration of the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback sessions
- Coach managers on effective performance management practices and provide guidance on developing performance improvement plans
- Analyze performance data to identify trends and recommend strategies for improving organizational performance
- Partner with managers to identify talent development needs and develop strategies to enhance employee skills and capabilities
- Support the implementation of training and development programs, including onboarding, leadership development, and technical training
- Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions to identify and develop high-potential employees
- Support organizational change initiatives, including restructures, mergers, and acquisitions
- Provide guidance on organizational design and development, ensuring alignment with business strategy
- Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and recommend strategies for improving organizational effectiveness
- Support the implementation and maintenance of HR programs and policies
- Provide expert guidance on federal, state, and local U.S. employment laws, including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and state-specific regulations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. employment laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks
- Develop and implement U.S.-specific HR policies and procedures
- Conduct internal audits and investigations related to U.S. compliance matters
