Summary

Join USG Insurance Services as a Human Resources Assistant Intern for an internship beginning in May 2025. Assist the HR team with various tasks, including recruiting, managing personnel records, payroll, employee benefits, development, wellness initiatives, labor law compliance, and other HR projects.

Requirements

  • 2nd year or higher of a degree in Human Resources, or similar relevant program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and computer systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in a team
  • Detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Support recruiting efforts through ATS maintenance, pre-screening applicants, and conducting interviews
  • Handle pre-employment background checks, draft job offers and assist with onboarding
  • Ensure accuracy in new hire and termination paperwork and organize personnel folders
  • Enter new hires into payroll systems and benefit portals
  • Help create and distribute employee communications
  • Assist with HR projects by researching laws and regulations and supporting implementation and communication efforts
  • Aid in payroll preparation and processing, including employee changes in compensation, deductions, addresses, timecard entries, and PTO requests
  • Audit and maintain current HR files and databases
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, such as scheduling meetings, filing, and responding to employee inquiries
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing HR data and metrics for reporting
  • Support compliance with employment laws by helping develop and update HR policies and procedures
  • Research HR best practices, industry trends, and new regulations to aid the HR team in decision-making
  • Assist in managing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives
