Join our team as a Logistics Operations Specialist (Dispatcher) to lead all aspects of our transportation operations, including dispatch, fleet maintenance, driver management, safety and compliance, and customer satisfaction. This role demands a proactive, strategic individual with strong execution skills and the ability to handle diverse responsibilities in a dynamic environment. You will oversee dispatch for a fleet of 10 company-owned trucks, manage freight brokerage, maintain fleet maintenance, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, manage drivers, and provide excellent customer service. You will also develop internal processes, build out fleet maintenance and safety programs, and track key performance indicators. Requirements
- Dispatch & Logistics Operations
- Proven experience in both dedicated and OTR dispatch, including full-cycle coordination of brokerage loads
- Fleet Maintenance Management
- Hands-on management of fleets (≈10+ vehicles), including preventative maintenance programs, vendor/shop relations, breakdown coordination, and use of CMMS or fleet software
- Regulatory Compliance Expertise
- Deep understanding of FMCSA/DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and ELD mandates. Able to audit, identify, and resolve compliance issues
- ELD System Proficiency
- Practical experience with KeepTruckin or similar ELD platforms. Capable of log analysis, violation management, and driver training implementation
- Customer Service & Account Communication
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with clients—providing load updates, handling escalations, and maintaining high service levels
Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle dispatch for a fleet of 10 company-owned trucks (dedicated and potential OTR routes)
- Manage freight brokerage dispatch from start to finish
- Post loads on load boards, answer calls, screen and qualify carriers
- Track and trace shipments, ensure clear communication and top-tier customer service
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for the entire fleet
- Coordinate breakdowns, repairs, inspections, and shop/vendor relationships
- Maintain audit-ready maintenance records and ensure vehicle readiness at all times
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations
- Manage ELDs (KeepTruckin), track Hours of Service (HOS), and support audits
- Assist in building a scalable safety department and driver education program
- Schedule and track drivers, monitor performance and ETAs
- Conduct daily driver communication and resolve any delivery or routing issues
- Handle onboarding, drug testing, and hours-of-service compliance
- Foster strong relationships to maintain a motivated and reliable driving team
- Deliver proactive customer updates: ETAs, breakdown notifications, delivery confirmations
- Ensure timely, professional, and courteous verbal and written communication
- Strive to exceed customer expectations and build long-term relationships
- Serve as a multi-functional operations leader—developing internal processes and infrastructure
- Build out the fleet maintenance and safety programs
- Track and report key KPIs: uptime, compliance, cost control, on-time delivery, and satisfaction
