Summary

Join Colibri's Payroll Department as a Payroll Supervisor and oversee the daily operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across all 50 U.S. states and select international locations. This role demands compliance with regulations, leading and developing a payroll team, and supporting process improvements. You will partner in managing payroll systems, resolving issues, and delivering an exceptional employee experience. The position involves supervising payroll processing, ensuring regulatory adherence, managing the payroll team, maintaining records, providing coaching and feedback, serving as an escalation point for inquiries, collaborating with other teams, leading year-end processes, preparing reports, identifying process improvements, and providing guidance on systems and processes. Success requires extensive payroll experience, strong understanding of payroll laws, and proficiency with payroll systems. A collaborative and fast-paced environment is expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-state environment required; international payroll experience preferred
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (UKG preferred)
  • Familiarity with time and attendance systems (e.g., UKG, ADP, Kronos)
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, wage and hour compliance, and tax reporting
  • Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
  • Strong Excel/data analysis capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including wages, deductions, and taxes
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Supervise daily operations of the payroll team, ensuring staff meet accuracy and deadline expectations
  • Maintain and update payroll records and employee data; verify timekeeping records and time system integration
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to payroll specialists
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal teams on payroll-related issues, audits, and compliance
  • Lead year-end payroll processes, including W-2 issuance and tax filings
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports and summaries as needed
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements
  • Provide guidance on payroll systems and processes to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience supervising or leading a payroll team preferred, not required
