Summary

Join Smartsheet's People Operations team as a Generalist to provide key support for the People Operations function. You will assist with new hire onboarding and offboarding, manage HR information systems (Workday), and drive process improvement projects to enhance employee self-service. Responsibilities include coordinating the employee life cycle, acting as a Tier 2 escalation point for employee inquiries, developing self-service content, leading the transition of administrative tasks, acting as a knowledge source for policies, and supporting Workday operations. You will partner with the People Process Improvement team and be a Smartsheet Cultural Ambassador. This role requires 3+ years of HR operations or employee service center experience, 1+ year contributing to HR projects, excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and understanding of confidentiality. A Bachelor’s degree and Workday experience are strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in HR operations or employee service center
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to HR projects
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills with the ability to explain technical processes to non-technical end users
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Acute understanding of confidentiality and access to sensitive information
  • A strong self-starter with proven ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities effectively, and demonstrate sound personal judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Excellent at follow-up, with ability to deliver within defined timelines
  • Model a determined focus and will to succeed that is contagious; handle adversity well, recover quickly, and sustain drive over the long haul

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the process of the employee life cycle, including onboarding, personnel file management, employee inquiries, and offboarding
  • Act as a Tier 2 escalation point to ensure employee inquiries related to HR, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, etc. are answered promptly and correctly via FreshService ticketing system
  • Independently develop, maintain, and continuously improve user-centric documentation and self-service content for global internal processes and employee-facing materials. This includes creating clear guides, FAQs, and resources that empower employees to find information efficiently and independently
  • Independently lead the transition of People & Culture administrative tasks into the PeopleGO Shared Services team scope
  • Act as a knowledge source for policies, procedures, and standards for each of the global Smartsheet entities
  • Support operating procedures and business processes within Workday or other people systems, ensuring data integrity
  • Partner with the People Process Improvement team to continuously improve the Workday infrastructure to automate processes, implement web-based self-service features, and minimize administrative overhead
  • Be a Smartsheet Cultural Ambassador by recognizing and developing the culture of Smartsheet while continuing to champion the core Smartsheet values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Workday experience
  • Advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Office and Google for Work
