Requirements
- Completed at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- At least 5 years' experience providing sales and use tax consulting services in a public accounting, consulting, or law firm
- Solid accounting background, including experience with financial statement preparation and adjusting journal entries (AJEs)
- Proven experience in managing complex tax engagements and leading client relationships
- Strong communication skills with the ability to draft tax memoranda and engage with tax authorities
- Team player with a desire to develop others
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and goal-driven
- Collaborative, with the ability to integrate seamlessly with clients and internal teams
Responsibilities
- Provide valuable advice to our clients on solving their most pressing sales tax issues
- Research tax laws, represent clients in tax controversy situations, and recommend strategies to minimize their sales tax liabilities
- Possess the fundamental accounting knowledge to be able to read financial statements and make general ledger reconciliation for the ultimate preparation of sales and use tax returns
- Provide excellent client sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies
- Integrate communicate efficiently with clients, and other teams within Orbiss
- Manage the following types of sales and use tax consulting projects; technical research memoranda, nexus studies, exposure quantification, voluntary disclosures and other sales tax mitigation strategies
- Due diligence, and other state tax consulting projects
- Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus on high-value, quality tax advice
- Oversee and follow up with state registrations and ensure sales tax compliance with the operational teams
- Actively participate in employee training and desire to continue building the team
- Assist with technical research supporting tax positions taken in tax filings, including drafting written memorandums
- Contact tax agencies to obtain information, resolve issues, and reconcile notices
- Keep up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
- Manage the indirect sales tax compliance process
