Summary

Join Key Capture Energy as a Senior Accountant and play a key role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance, and assisting with monthly close processes. This permanent, exempt position reports to the Director, Controller and requires preparing accurate financial statements, supporting audits, and providing financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of relevant experience, and strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires strong analytical and communication skills. Travel is estimated at 25%. Location options include Houston, TX; Albany, NY; Brooklyn, NY; or Remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong background in general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliation
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and tax laws
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial forecasts
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete
  • Create all journal entries and other adjustments
  • Oversee the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and working papers
  • Assist with the preparation of tax returns (e.g., sales tax, income tax, and other local taxes)
  • Support tax audits and compliance-related inquiries
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve financial reporting efficiency and accuracy
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports that provide insight into the company’s financial performance
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • All other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or other professional certification
  • Proficiency with NetSuite and familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning and Quick Books
  • Experience with IFRS
