Summary

Join Istari Digital, a digital engineering software company, as a Senior Accountant. You will be part of a growing Finance & Accounting team, gaining exposure to senior leaders and contributing to the company's financial success. This role involves managing monthly close processes, supporting department managers, and working with Human Resources on payroll. Experience with federal government contracts and DCAA-compliant accounting practices is required. The position is full-time and requires at least three days a week in the Crystal City, Virginia office. Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, specifically with some experience working for a federal contractor
  • Must be curious
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the full Office 365 Suite
  • Proficient in the full Google Suite of tools
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively, with a team-oriented mindset
  • Employment background screening required before start
  • US Citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Monthly close, support Department Managers, support Senior Accounting Manager, working with Human Resources process and manage payroll
  • Work with the Department leaders to improve the process of understanding vendor spend and invoice processing. Process invoices and organize them for weekly payment. Prepare necessary GL account numbers for payment approval. Assist with Cash Forecasting. Verify monthly insurance billings for accuracy in employee reporting
  • Reconcile time records for payroll and invoicing preparation. Populate monthly billable hour reconciliations for review and approval. Generate monthly customer invoices, get approval, and submit to customer systems for payment. Reconcile payments
  • Reconcile expense reports. Present payroll for approval on a monthly or semi-monthly basis. Process payroll and 401k contributions, with semi-monthly or monthly cycles. Maintain automated workflows in Gusto
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly. Prepare and submit sales tax reports and related payments. Review and reconcile general ledger accounts such as prepaids. Close monthly financial books and prepare accrual basis financial statements. Populate year-to-date financial forecast model. Monitor budget items and report on them. Calculate wrap rates and collaborate on indirect rates. Pull together bank borrowing certificate. Assist with monthly financial presentations
  • Provide assistance with other tasks as assigned by leadership

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of DCAA-compliant accounting practices is a plus
