Summary

Join our client, a B2B SaaS Venture Studio, as a Senior Director or VP of Marketing! This hands-on role blends strategic thinking with execution, requiring you to develop and implement marketing strategies for both the firm and its portfolio companies. You will build marketing operations from the ground up, manage a marketing tech stack, and execute multi-channel campaigns. The position demands content creation, brand leadership, and portfolio company support, including mentoring marketing teams. You'll also be responsible for performance analytics and building relationships within the venture capital and AI communities. This is a fully remote position (CST/EST hours), 25-35 hours/week, initially a 16-week contract with a high likelihood of extension.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of B2B marketing experience with significant time in tech, SaaS, AI, or venture capital environments
  • Proven track record in venture capital, startup, or high-growth technology marketing - this is essential
  • Hands-on execution experience - must be comfortable personally managing campaigns, tools, and tactical implementation
  • SMB market expertise - deep understanding of small and medium business marketing challenges and opportunities
  • Experience building marketing organizations and processes from early stages
  • Strong background in digital marketing, marketing automation, and performance analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to develop messaging and positioning for complex B2B technology solutions
  • Track record of successful multi-brand or portfolio marketing management
  • Proficiency with marketing technology stack (HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in marketing attribution and ROI measurement
  • Comfort with AI/ML marketing tools and emerging marketing technologies
  • Basic understanding of product marketing and go-to-market strategy
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience mentoring teams and providing strategic guidance to founders
  • Ability to present marketing strategies and results to executive leadership and investors
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies for both the firm as a venture studio and individual portfolio companies
  • Create cohesive brand architecture that elevates the studio while supporting individual venture growth
  • Balance resources and messaging across multiple brands and target audiences
  • Build and manage marketing tech stack, automation, and attribution systems
  • Execute multi-channel campaigns including digital advertising, content marketing, and account-based marketing
  • Develop and maintain marketing processes, templates, and playbooks for portfolio companies
  • Create and optimize conversion funnels across all touchpoints
  • Lead content strategy and creation for thought leadership in AI, venture building, and SMB technology
  • Manage website development, SEO strategy, and digital presence optimization
  • Oversee brand messaging, positioning, and visual identity across all properties
  • Develop case studies, white papers, and marketing materials that demonstrate venture studio value
  • Provide strategic marketing guidance to portfolio companies
  • Develop scalable marketing frameworks and best practices for early-stage ventures
  • Coordinate joint marketing initiatives and cross-promotional opportunities
  • Mentor portfolio company marketing teams and founders on growth strategies
  • Implement comprehensive marketing measurement and attribution systems
  • Analyze performance across all marketing channels and optimize for ROI
  • Develop dashboards and reporting systems for leadership and portfolio companies
  • Use data-driven insights to continuously improve marketing effectiveness
  • Build relationships within the venture capital, AI, and SMB technology communities
  • Develop strategic partnerships and co-marketing opportunities
  • Create thought leadership content and positioning within the venture ecosystem

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience at venture capital firms, accelerators, or venture studios
  • Background in AI/machine learning technology marketing
  • Experience with investor relations and fundraising marketing support
  • Track record of successful startup marketing exits or high-growth scale-ups
  • Network within the venture capital and startup ecosystem
