Summary
Join Komoju, Japan's leading payment infrastructure company, as a Senior HR Business Partner. This is a mission-critical leadership role, not a generalist position. You will take full ownership of HR practices, evolving the people agenda from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include shaping performance management, compensation philosophy, and partnering with senior leaders to develop talent. You will build employee engagement and retention frameworks and serve as the go-to person for leadership on people-related matters. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of senior HRBP experience in growth-stage organizations, direct experience with C-levels, and deep knowledge of Japan's HR landscape. Fluency in Japanese and English is required.
Requirements
- Has 7+ years of senior HRBP or People Partnering experience in growth-stage organizations
- Has worked directly with C-levels, not as a note-taker, but as a business partner
- Knows Japan’s HR landscape deeply, but is not held back by “how things have always been”
- Can influence high-context, high-standard tech teams while holding your own in ambiguity
- Writes and speaks fluently in both Japanese and English
- Is strategic in thinking, tactical in action, and grounded in business outcomes
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of our HR practices to evolve the design of our people agenda - from strategy to hands-on execution - as a competitive differentiator in the market
- Shape and implement performance management, manager coaching, compensation philosophy, and more
- Partner with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Sales, G&A to design teams, define capabilities, and develop talent
- Build and nurture employee engagement, retention, and internal mobility frameworks
- Be the go-to person for leadership when it comes to people, conflict, succession, or change
- Identify structural and behavioral blockers to scale — and act. Fast
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scaling HR systems (e.g., from 100 to 300 people orgs)
- Experience with hybrid/remote teams and multicultural orgs
- Hands-on business experience (e.g., sales, product, or operations)
- MBA or entrepreneurial experience or having founded/co-founded a business
