Join Common Thread Collective as a Senior Lifecycle & Retention Marketing Strategist and become our resident expert in email and SMS marketing. You will create educational materials and best practices, audit clients, develop automated campaigns, and provide strategic input. This role requires both strategic and tactical expertise, encompassing high-level strategy and detailed implementation plans. Success involves managing daily email and SMS programs, teaching best practices, collaborating with internal teams, and analyzing data to optimize campaigns. You will build strong client relationships, identify upsell opportunities, and contribute to new business pitches. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in email and SMS marketing, proficiency in Klaviyo and other ESPs, and strong analytical and communication skills.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in email and SMS marketing, with proven success in DTC environment
- Advanced proficiency in Klaviyo, including complex flow architecture, advanced segmentation, custom metrics, integration management, and template development
- Experience with email authentication (DKIM, SPF, DMARC), deliverability optimization, and IP warming for platform migrations
- Expertise in advanced campaign segmentation, automation logic, and flow optimization
- Strong background in A/B and multivariate testing methodology
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and client relationships simultaneously
- Experience mentoring junior team members and providing strategic guidance
- Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities
- Working knowledge of Figma, HTML and CSS for email development
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
- Strategic thinking with a data-driven approach
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day email and SMS programs for clients
- Build complex automation flows and develop sophisticated segmentation strategies
- Write compelling copy and set up A/B tests
- Maintain rigorous QA processes, monitor deliverability metrics, and continuously optimize campaign performance
- Build and manage scalable, revenue-driving programs
- Create unique and differentiated customer experiences through email and SMS that drive engagement and revenue
- Teach best practices and share foundational knowledge of ESP platforms, automation strategies, and campaign optimization
- Collaborate across internal teams to provide input and plan cohesive marketing campaigns
- Shape integrated marketing strategies that maximize results across all channels
- Identify, develop, segment, execute and optimize email and SMS campaigns
- Spot trends and connect the dots on what success may look like across industries and verticals
- Share trends both externally through marketing materials and internally
- Develop and implement revenue-driving lifecycle programs that significantly contribute to total client revenue
- Maintain excellent sender reputation scores across client accounts through best-practice implementation
- Achieve and maintain industry-leading deliverability metrics through proactive monitoring and optimization
- Drive consistent list growth through strategic acquisition tactics and engaging campaigns
- Design automated flow strategies that generate substantial recurring revenue
- Lead confident, strategic client meetings with clear agendas and actionable insights
- Proactively identify upsell opportunities and expansion strategies within accounts
- Create compelling monthly performance reports highlighting key metrics, insights, and strategic recommendations
- Build strong, trusting relationships with clients through consistent delivery of results
- Identify and execute on upsell opportunities within existing accounts

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in at least one additional ESP (such as Bronto, Mailchimp, or Listrak)
- Extensive experience of SMS platforms (Attentive, Postscript)
- Working knowledge of Loyalty, Subscription, Direct Mail, Survey, and Identity Resolution platforms as they relate to and integrate with Email and SMS
- Bachelor's degree
