Summary

This role involves defining and managing the long-term and short-term sales forecasts and planning processes for Scout Motors' electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs. You will collaborate with various stakeholders across different departments to align timelines, systems, and business objectives. Responsibilities include creating and managing retail sales objectives, defining system requirements, and developing a robust process for gathering and applying front-line demand inputs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience in OEM sales forecasting, and a proven track record of building high-performing teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience managing OEM sales forecasts, production planning, vehicle ordering, inventory allocation and management, mix tracking and/or vehicle distribution
  • A diverse history and skillset within automotive sales operations that makes you both an operations generalist and capable of quickly grasping the detailed tasks necessary to manage all aspects of OEM sales operations
  • A desire to build from a clean sheet that is supported by a talent for creating process, defining tasks, and building alignment with numerous stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain healthy cross-functional relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical mindset and capabilities, augmented by a high degree of technical know-how and savvy with data and analytics tools
  • Proven track record of building a motivated, high-performing team and developing a fun and productive team culture
  • Intuitive ability to navigate organizational complexity and confidently lead strategic, data-driven discussions with top management
  • Willingness to establish two-way lines of communication with front-line operations in order to gather market feedback and translate that into actionable insights to sharpen the company’s competitive position
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Define the Scout Motors long-term sales forecast and planning process, taking into account both local and global stakeholders
  • Define the Scout Motors short-term sales planning process, bringing together key stakeholders to align timelines, systems, business objectives, and customer requirements
  • Develop and manage a sales planning governance process that includes the relevant stakeholders from Scout Production, Finance, Sales, and the retail network, complies with stakeholder lead-time requirements, and enables the company to make data-driven sales planning decisions
  • Create and manage retail sales objectives by model for Scout regions and markets, ensuring profit achievement and avoidance of standing inventory
  • Together with Scout IT and Scout Digital, define the systems requirements necessary to facilitate the sales and production planning process, including demand indicators, the creation and documentation of all forecasts and sales plans
  • Create, document, and manage the Scout sales and volume plan of record, owning official plan submission and all future-looking scenario planning optimized for high-level company priorities and objectives
  • Develop and advocate for an optimized, continuously evolving sales forecast which optimizes profit for Scout and meets the needs of all stakeholders to the greatest extent possible
  • Develop a robust process to gather and apply front-line demand inputs from customer reservations, website vehicle configurations, lost sales, Scout Inside Sales input, Scout workshops and field operations team members
  • Coordinate with Scout Accessories to ensure that accessory sales targets and considerations are considered in the sales planning process, and ensure that opportunities to grow and optimize accessory profit are surfaced
  • Actively communicate with the Scout field and Retail Operations team(s) to monitor and understand demand and sales trends in real time
  • Provide ongoing, detailed demand inputs to the Scout sales planning process
