Join Terraformation, a company committed to restoring native forests and tackling climate change, as their Social Impact Manager. You will play a crucial role in ensuring local communities are central to reforestation efforts, working with partners to build fair and sustainable projects. This position involves leading community engagement, overseeing FPIC processes, supporting benefit-sharing mechanisms, and strengthening oversight of local partners. You will also drive compliance with global standards, deliver training, develop monitoring tools, and collaborate cross-functionally. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in social impact management and community engagement, expertise in FPIC and related processes, and strong analytical and communication skills. The position is remote, with a preference for candidates in the United States.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in social impact management, community engagement, or related fields
- Expertise in FPIC and feedback and grievance redress processes, social impact assessments, and certification frameworks (CCB, Verra, Gold Standard)
- Strong analytical skills and experience developing social impact monitoring plans
- Experience managing international teams and working across diverse cultural contexts
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust with stakeholders
- Fluency in English (Spanish or French preferred)
- Willingness to travel to remote project sites (up to 25%)
Responsibilities
- Lead community engagement strategies to ensure meaningful participation in restoration projects
- Oversee and improve processes for Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) across projects
- Support and manage partners in designing benefit-sharing mechanisms that create lasting economic and social value
- Strengthen the oversight of local consultants and partners, ensuring high-quality social impact work
- Drive compliance with global standards (e.g., CCB, Verra) and support certification processes
- Deliver training sessions and workshops to empower partners and local teams
- Develop tools and tracking systems to monitor social impact and community outcomes
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support grant applications, investor due diligence, and impact reporting
