Summary
Join VetsEZ as a remote Technical Writer supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. You will collaborate with development teams, managing and expanding knowledge management programs. This role requires a technical background and proven ability to create high-quality documentation. Responsibilities include creating various IT-related documents, developing communications, editing for style and compliance, researching technical concepts, conducting interviews, and strategically documenting processes. The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree, 5+ years of technical writing experience, and proficiency in Microsoft software. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, computer science, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience working in technical writing
- Ability to interface with technical staff and end-users to understand functional requirements to develop processes and procedures
- Experience and understanding of good documentation practices and proficiency with core Microsoft software/systems such as Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc
- Experience with Change Management functional, regression, performance, etc
- Experience with all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), mainly creating User's Requirements Document and translation into Functional Requirements Document and Design Document (when applicable)
- Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance/update of technical documents needed for developers to start coding, distribution of final codes, training guides, and physical training for code deployment
- Previous software development experience
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and coordinate highly complex IT-related documents, including presentations, manuals, reports, policies, procedures, and specifications
- Develop and distribute communications related to core functions, such as product releases and process or policy changes
- Edit documentation for style, clarity, consistency, and compliance with customer guidelines
- Research complex technical concepts to create and update technical documents, workflows, and user manuals
- Conduct interviews with technical staff to gather information for accurate and comprehensive documentation
- Strategically document, communicate, and train processes to integrate them into the organizationโs culture of people, processes, and technology
- Provide feedback on draft documents and participate in documentation review sessions to ensure quality and accuracy
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal agencies
- Experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder and DevSecOps environment
- Ability to obtain a government clearance
- Technical Writing experience within the Healthcare Industry is a plus
