Summary

Join our team as a remote Trust Accounting Specialist! This role supports financial operations for multiple law firm clients, requiring expertise in trust accounting regulations and law firm financials. You will maintain and reconcile trust accounts, perform reconciliations, manage general ledger entries, handle monthly closings, and prepare financial reports. Proficiency in QuickBooks and legal billing software is essential. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and a clear communicator, comfortable working independently and meeting strict deadlines. This remote position is open to candidates residing in specific states.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or staff accountant experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment
  • Hands-on experience with trust accounting and IOLTA compliance
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with legal billing software
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet strict deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a performance-driven environment with frequent oversight and accountability metrics
  • Must reside in one of the following states: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile trust (IOLTA) and operating accounts in compliance with state bar rules
  • Perform accurate and timely three-way trust reconciliations
  • Manage general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll entries
  • Handle monthly and quarterly closings across multiple sets of books
  • Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports to clients within established deadlines
  • Utilize QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) and legal practice management software such as Clio, MyCase, or PracticePanther
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal controls, compliance standards, and accounting best practices
