Summary

Join SecurityScorecard's Business Development team as a Public Sector BDR! This pre-sales role focuses on identifying and engaging decision-makers within government organizations to showcase SecurityScorecard's cybersecurity solutions. You will qualify leads, set up meetings, and work closely with the sales team. This position offers a strong foundation in cybersecurity sales and public sector procurement, serving as a stepping stone for career advancement. The role involves prospecting federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as defense contractors and educational institutions. Success requires passion for government sales, understanding of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, and strong communication skills.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in business development, sales, or government contracting
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement cycles and compliance frameworks
  • Ability to engage government stakeholders and navigate public sector sales processes
  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, Outreach.io) and lead generation tools
  • Excellent communication skillsโ€”especially in engaging with government leaders

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and Book Meetings for Public Sector Sales Reps (FSRs)
  • Identify and Qualify Government Leads: Use research, outreach, and inbound interest to connect with CISOs, IT directors, and procurement officers at federal, state, and local agencies
  • Educate Public Sector Stakeholders: Explain the importance of continuous cybersecurity monitoring, third-party risk management, and regulatory compliance
  • Use CRM and Outreach Tools Effectively: Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and Outreach.io to track leads and follow-up actions
  • Work with Marketing & Channel Teams: Support public sector webinars, government cybersecurity events, and partner initiatives
  • Stay Updated on Public Sector Compliance & Trends: Monitor changes in NIST, FISMA, CMMC, FedRAMP, and other federal/state regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Experience researching and identifying government cybersecurity needs
  • Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, or CMMC compliance frameworks
  • Interest in developing expertise in cybersecurity sales and public sector engagements
